Sure, everybody is talking about “ice in” on the lake right now and gearing up for ice fishing, so why are we thinking about springtime boat rentals? If you are planning a trip to New Hampshire in the spring, now is the best time to secure all of your rentals. If you wait too long, they might be all gone by the time you get here. From fishing tackle rentals to sales of custom fishing rods and reels, we have everything you need to have a great day out on the lake at the NH Hole in the Wall.
Located in Wolfeboro, we also have a wide variety of New Hampshire boat rentals for you to consider. From canoes and kayaks to beautiful Boston Whalers, it’s easy to have a great time out on Lake Winnipesaukee when you have one of our exciting boats! You can either call in and speak with one of our team members or you can sign-up for boat rentals online via our website.
Boating Rules & Requirements
Another thing you can do to prepare for your visit is to read the rules and requirements for boating in New Hampshire. For example, did you know that there is a speed limit law for Lake Winnipesaukee? The speed limits are 25 miles per hour during the period from one-half hour after sunset to one-half hour before sunrise, but you can go up to 45 miles per hour at any other time of the day. Make sure to speak with one of our team members when you pick up your New Hampshire boat rentals for any new laws or information about safety on the lake.
There is a mandatory boating education law for everyone aged 16 and older if they operate a motorboat that has more than 25 horsepower on New Hampshire waters. A boating education certificate is required to use these types of boats. However, if a person has a boating certificate that is issued by another state agency that is also NASBLA-approved, they don’t have to get a new boating certificate. A boating certificate that is issued by the US Power Squadron, the US Coast Guard Auxiliary, or a commercial boating license from the US Coast Guard or the State of New Hampshire is also acceptable.
Online Courses Available
It is highly recommended that you take the boating certificate course online if you wish to operate a boat on Lake Winnipesaukee. Again, this is a great preparation idea for you to take care of before your trip here in the spring or summer months. It will save you a lot of time and help you to get out on the water instead of spending part of your vacation taking a test. The online course is available through the New Hampshire Department of Safety, Marine Patrol Unit website.
After you successfully complete the online course, you will need to register and pass a proctored exam before you receive your certification card. You can view the list of available dates for Proctored Exams to receive your official New Hampshire Boating Certificate on the Department of Safety website. There are also some alternative options, such as a temporary 14-day certificate, which is available at a handful of certificate agent locations throughout the state and other options available in other states that are NASBLA-approved.
