Fishing Fun & Recreation: Boat Rentals on Lake Winnipesaukee

Lake Winnipesaukee Fishing FunWhen you come to New Hampshire, there are so many fun things to do! Planning a vacation to the Lake Region, which includes the world-famous Lake Winnipesaukee, can include any number of recreational activities. The fishing here is well known, so there are boat rentals, local tackle rentals, and lots of live bait at area bait and tackle stores in Wolfeboro. However, there are also lots of other things to do besides fishing that would benefit from having a boat rental at your disposal.

Water sports, water skiing, fun at the beach, and cruises around the hundreds of islands and miles of shoreline are just some of the things you can do. Hiking, biking, fun and exciting attractions, seasonal festivals, local music and crafts, golfing, boat tours, and loads of winter sports round out the goings on at this popular vacation spot. No matter what time of year you come to Lake Winnipesaukee, there’s something fun and exciting to do. Whatever attracts you here in the first place, just make sure you include some time out on the water.

Paddling Fun

Sure, you could rent a motorboat and zip around the water, but don’t miss out on the joy of paddling in a canoe, kayak, or paddleboard on beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee. In addition to our other boat rentals at the NH Hole in the Wall, we also have a wide variety of canoes and kayaks available to rent. You can secure your rental online in advance of your visit, which is highly recommended in the summer. Check ahead of your visit for any major festivals or events as well to avoid missing out on boat rentals for your trip.

You don’t need a boating certificate to operate a canoe, kayak, or paddleboard out on Lake Winnipesaukee, so just rent it, pick it up, and go! You might want to take it easy and spend some time learning the ropes before you head too far out on the lake. However, paddling is very user-friendly, and even the kids will enjoy giving it a try. Brush up on some boating safety skills on the car-ride or plane-trip to New Hampshire, and you’ll be ready to go as soon as you arrive in Wolfeboro.

Explore the Lake

Another fun activity is to get out there and explore the shoreline of Lake Winnipesaukee. Located at 504 feet above sea level in Central New Hampshire as part of the Lakes Region, Lake Winnipesaukee boasts 72 square miles of water surface space and has 264 islands. The total distance around the lake is 182 miles. Make sure to get a map and ask about GPS to ensure that you don’t get lost. The lake really IS that big! There are so many little coves and inlets to explore, whether you are hiking, driving or out on boat rentals, Lake Winnipesaukee has much beauty to offer.
